Karla Alvarez is looking to break into the competitive strawweight division with the likes of Melanie Shah, Jenny Savage and champion Britain Hart. She comes from an MMA background, fighting out of the Southwest amateur scene in markets like Colorado and Texas. Being an Albuquerque-based fighter, she works with Jackson Wink and has a foundational style of striking.
Alvarez was born in Mexico but proudly represents the United States while still having that Mexican will to overcome. She likes to bring the fight directly to her opponent immediately and doesn't mind taking a punch to land two or three of her own. She will be high volume in her fights with a contestant intention of walking forward. In these lighter weight classes, we see a lot of point fighting but that will not dissuade the scrappy Alvarez from hunting the finish.

Rules
Fighters are permitted to wrap and tape the wrist, thumb, and mid-hand. No gauze or tape can be within 1 inch of the knuckles.
Fighters will “Toe The Line” There are two lines, three feet apart, in the center of the ring where the fighters will start each round. The front foot will be on the line, and then the referee will instruct the fighters to “Knuckle Up” this means the beginning of the round/bout. More »
