Austin Lewis was all but done with fighting when he coincidentally received a call from the BKFC matchmakers after suffering a major loss in his family. After going 8-3 as an amateur in MMA and dropping his first professional boxing match, his young niece passed away and he needed some time to reevaluate life and his goals. Lewis continued to train to keep himself sane and low and behold, the BKFC came to the Tingley Coliseum for an epic BKFC 48 where he got the opportunity to open the card. That fight ended in a no contest due to his opponent landing a strike after the bell.
Lewis is drawn to bare-knuckle boxing because of its grittiness and more raw fashion. He’s not a fan of traditional boxing but he says bare-knuckle boxing is like fights he got into as a kid and he loves that. When there’s a ref and judges involved to make sure the fight environment is as safe as possible, this is the rawest and purest form of combat.
Lewis tries to fight as technically as possible from the outside. Look for him to parry punches and dance around the outside. He sticks to fundamentals but utilizes them well and he will be a solid contender with some long standing in the BKFC’s flyweight division.
