BK Record: 1-5-0 (Win-Loss-Draw)
Montana's own Darrick Gates has never gone past round two in any of his five BKFC bouts. "The Buck" as he's known has had some struggles against high level BK competition, but he stays ready and always fights with a pressure-heavy style.
Gates out throws his opponents in a majority of his fights within the organization. His losses against champion Kai Stewart and Dylan Schulte were the only exceptions. Especially in the case of the Schulte fight, we learned very little as Gates essentially got caught. "The Buck" is looking to get back into the win column at BKFC 57 and he has all the ability to do so but he will have to utilize every tool he possesses and focus more on defense over offense.
Gates has a great way of learning from losses while also staying eager to toe the line and redeem himself. After his first three fights not going his way, (two losses and a no contest) he came in and stopped Koda Greenwood in round one like he was on a 12-fight win streak.
Bottom line with Gates, his opponents can never expect an easy fight. You aren't going to scare the man away from throwing hands. Just take it from him, himself. When asked about his losses in both MMA and in the BKFC he replied, "I just really enjoy fighting. No matter how many times I get beat up, I still want to do it.” He has his eyes set at a title shot and with his determination and willpower, who can question him?
