Erick “El Travieso” Lozano is gearing up for one final ride for BKFC gold.
The next leg of his journey takes place in Sturgis, SD on Aug. 3, when he takes on top prospect Bryant Acheson (1-0) at BKFC 63, LIVE worldwide on The BKFC App.
“This is my last run for the belt, so I want to go out there and make a statement against somebody that a lot of fighters are dodging,” the hard-hitting Holland, MI product says.
“He looks pretty sharp and he’s a big dude, but I don’t think he’s got enough time in the ring yet. He’s a top prospect, for sure, but if I can go out there and put this guy away, it’s going to put me right back where I want to be.”
Lozano’s quest for BKFC gold was sidetracked in his most recent fight – a fifth-round loss to Mike Richman in the Main Event of BKFC Fight Night Clearwater in April.
Lozano isn’t looking past Acheson, but he wants a shot at redemption against Richman before he steps away from the Squared Circle. Lozano believes a title shot in the stacked BKFC light-heavyweight division must go through the former champ Richman.
“I see Mike as next in line for the title shot, so I want to win this fight, then win a couple more – or maybe just this and another big one against somebody like Josh Dyer – so me and Mike can run it back,” he says.
“We put on Fight of the Night in our first fight, and it would be another exciting fight for the belt.”
