Isaac “The Honey Badger” Doolittle has a tall task ahead of him at BKFC 57.
The 5-foot-9 Manhattan, KS product is preparing for battle with the 6-foot-2 John Michael Escoboza (8-1) in light-heavyweight action on Feb. 2 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL, LIVE on The BKFC App.
“He’s tall, he’s lanky, he’s got a really good jab, and I’m going to have to get up on a stool to punch him in the face,” the affable Doolittle says.
In addition to a big height disadvantage, Doolittle’s 67-inch reach is a full 10 inches less than Escoboza’s reach. But this is nothing new for Doolittle, who’s fought larger opponents throughout his career.
The remedy to this problem is simple.
“Bully them – get up in their face and bully them,” Doolittle says when asked how shorter fighters can beat larger opponents. “Always press the action, and don’t let them do anything.”
That’s going to be the first order of business for Doolittle, who will try to climb to 4-1-1 in Hollywood, FL.
“He’s going to be the tallest opponent I’ve fought, so (bullying him) is definitely my top priority,” he says.
“I’m hoping to drop him in the third, but if I know my track record, I think this fight is going the distance.”
