Anyone who has fought on BKFC 1 has to be considered a grandfather to the sport. Despite fighting in a growing promotion that is under a decade old, Travis Thompson has cemented his legacy in the organization. When future fans look back from BKFC 200 and learn about the fighters who helped the BKFC gain the reputation for having the most electric fights in the game, Thompson is sure to be highlighted.
Before anyone knew what to expect in the Squared Circle, Travis Thompson faced one of the all time greats in Reggie Barnett and went on to fight the “who’s who” of the bantamweight division. Fighting out of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Travis Thompson started in traditional boxing as many PA. based fighters do. When the BKFC began he was one of the very first to see the potential and hopped on board.
He’s said himself in the past, “I don’t fight for the money, I like the money, but I fight because it’s legal for me to beat the s#*t out of you.” That thought process makes the pressure-heavy counterstriker a problem for anyone that stands across from him.
Thompson is a family man with kids and spends a lot of free time with them and his best friends. He breathes and bleeds bare-knuckle fighting and he’s likely to do this as long as he possibly can giving impressive performances along the way.
