Sydney 'Sundance' Smith caused a big upset in her debut against Andy Nguyen where she said herself, she never felt like the underdog. Growing up tough, Smith is used to being counted out and seems to thrive in that setting. After her debuting upset victory, she went on to lose a unanimous decision against strawweight contender, Melanie Shah. She again faced a lot of adversity there and likely feels her opponent should have had points removed for what she would call illegal hair grabbing.

Smith isn't afraid to get into a firefight but with height and long reach for her weight class at 5'7" and 69" respectively, staying at range and avoiding the clinch is the ideal way for her to come out on top. Her style would be best described as a counter puncher. She will be out thrown in her fights but seems to land the more impressive looking and damaging shots at range. Smith will also allow her opponent to back her up until she can plant her back foot and throw a jab or check hook to get her combinations going.

Smith thrives in pressure and likes the feeling of rising to an occasion. She will smile in victory or defeat and always shows great sportsmanship even if things get quite heated in the throes of her fights. She may seem emotional during the fights themselves, but a switch gets flipped before and after where "Sundance" is deactivated, and Smith's bubbly personality appears.

Smith grew up in a dysfunctional household as a kid. She has been very open in the past about her alcoholic father and talked about her parents' constant fighting. She spent time in institutions as well and after all of that, she has turned her life around, became a mother and fights professionally in the fastest rising fight promotion in the world.
