Caleb Avila will be fighting with a heavy heart on Saturday.
Less than a month ago, Avila witnessed the sudden passing of his best friend, Liston Lewis.
“Every punch I throw and every punch that I take is going to be for him,” Avila says.
“This fight, and every fight going forward, is going to be for my fallen brother, Liston Lewis. I want to honor his memory for all of my fights, and honor him in every way possible.
“I want the world to know how much he reached and was loved by the community.”
The 23-year-old Valley Center, CA product is ready to rise to the occasion on Saturday at BKFC Pechanga. He takes on Tylor Sijohn in heavyweight action under the bright lights at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, CA, LIVE worldwide on The BKFC App. While Avila has been training tirelessly to have his hand raised in the Squared Circle, he feels it’s more important to raise BKFC fans to their feet.
“As long as the crowd is screaming at the end of the match, that’s all that matters,” he says. “I’ve done a lot of research on my opponent. He comes to fight, and that’s what I love. I don’t want this to just be the most exciting fight of the night — I want to give fans the most exciting fight of the year.
“I just want to hear that crowd roar; that’s all that matters.”
