Drew “Wild Boy” Stuve rose to the occasion Saturday in his hometown BKFC Prospect Series Main Event fight.
Under the bright lights of the sold-out River Cree Resort & Casino in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Stuve smashed his way to 2-0 in his BKFC career with a second-round TKO over Sonny Smith. Their headline bout was streamed LIVE globally on The BKFC App.
“I felt really comfortable in there,” Stuve says after his big win.
“I dealt with the nerves better than I thought I might. The nerves didn’t really get to me at all; I just went out there and had fun with it.”
Saturday night was a learning experience for Stuve.
“I learned how well I can deal with the pressure, and I’m realizing I have that star power. I can handle the pressure and have fun with it,” he says. “Some people fold under the pressure, but pressure makes diamonds, and I’m definitely going to be a diamond for BKFC.”
Stuve is optimistic about the remainder of his rookie year in the Squared Circle.
“One year from today, I’d like to be in the Top 5 rankings of the BKFC welterweight division,” he says.
“After that, I’d like an opportunity to fight for the belt. I’m not doing this just for fun – I’m doing this to be a BKFC World Champion.”
