Patrick “The Brick” Brady doesn’t fight for the paycheck, the notoriety or the glitz and glamor.
Brady doesn’t need the money and isn’t too partial to the spotlight.
“It sounds crazy, but I just want a war,” the Washington Township, NJ-based fighter says.
“I really just want to find out what the (expletive) I’m doing here. I want to be pushed to the brink of how far I can go without crashing. Like jumping out of an airplane and deploying your parachute at the very last second.
“I want to get pushed to the edge.”
Zach “Shark Attack” Calmus — who Brady will battle Saturday at KnuckleMania V at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia — is happy to test Brady’s limits in the world-famous BKFC Squared Circle.
Brady will be trying to smash his way to 2-0 with a second straight KO against Calmus, who’s gunning for his fifth straight stoppage victory for BKFC. Their must-see heavyweight clash will air LIVE globally on DAZN.
“He’s going to come in there and he’s going to try to remove my jaw from my face, and I want to find out if he can do it, as crazy as that sounds,” Brady says with a laugh. “And I want to do it in front of my friends and family, and everybody that’s been a part of my journey.”
Although he’s dreamed about fighting at the legendary Wells Fargo Center thousands of times, Brady stops short of calling this fight a “full-circle moment.” That might imply he’s satisfied with what he’s accomplished so far.
In the Co-Main Event of Saturday’s historic KnuckleMania V showcase event, Mick Terrill will defend his BKFC World Heavyweight Championship for the second time against undefeated challenger “Big” Ben Rothwell.
Brady is eager to see the outcome of that fight — whether the belt stays put in England or returns to the United States — but he’s really just focused on the task at hand.
“I haven’t created that vision of holding the belt for myself yet because I’m too busy throwing sequences, combinations and slipping punches in my mind. I haven’t created a pathway in my mind to the belt yet, but I definitely don’t see why not,” he says.
“As far as I’m concerned, I don’t see any fighters in the BKFC heavyweight division that could keep me from the belt if that’s what I set my mind to.”
