Fernando Gonzalez is here to stay with BKFC.
The long-time MMA fan-favorite earned his first victory in the Squared Circle on Friday with a unanimous decision over Rodney Thomas in the Co-Main Event of BKFC Fight Night Pechanga. The bout took place at the sold-out Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, CA and aired LIVE worldwide on The BKFC App.
“The Menifee Maniac” shared the cage with a number of the world’s best MMA athletes during his 49-bout MMA career, like Michael “Venom” Page, Brandon Girtz and Brennan Ward. His resume includes 13 wins by knockout.
Now that Gonzalez has dropped his gloves, he has just one opponent in mind – “Platinum” Mike Perry, the undefeated BKFC King of Violence.
“I’ve been asking for that fight for a while now,” the Menifee, CA product says.
“It’s up to BKFC, whether they give me the fight now or they have me go through a few more people to get him, but it’s going to be a hell of a fight when it finally happens.”
His prediction for a possible showdown with Perry is simple.
“I don’t think it would be much different than my fight on Friday. He’s got power and he’ll jump in there, but they don’t know what to do when my footwork takes over. I see that happening a lot with Perry. He comes in aggressively, but you can overcome that with good movement and landing hard shots, which is what I do,” Gonzalez says.
“He’s got a good chin. I don’t know if I’d knock him out, but I’d put the work in and do everything within my power to end the fight early.”
