Jimmie “El Terror” Rivera made history Saturday as the Main Event winner in BKFC’s hugely anticipated New England debut.
Rivera closed the show at the iconic Mohegan Sun with a hard-fought, unanimous decision victory over fellow MMA fan favorite-turned-BKFC star Daniel Straus.
Rivera is hoping the stakes are even higher in his next bout as the Ramsey, NJ fighter eyes the winner of Kai Stewart’s and Bryan Duran’s BKFC 62 showdown for the BKFC World Featherweight Championship on June 21 in Hollywood, FL, LIVE worldwide on The BKFC App.
“I’m hoping to fly down and watch them fight and hopefully square off with the winner,” the former UFC headliner says.
“I’ll let my manager and BKFC work all that out. My biggest priority when it comes to my fighting career now is just getting back in the gym with my teammates. I’m going to be back in the gym soon, stay in shape and just keep my routine going.”
Rivera sees Duran taking the belt from Stewart. But, at the end of the day, Rivera says it won’t matter who’s standing in front of him if he gets the next shot at the strap.
“I don’t care,” he says.
“I wouldn’t mind punching Kai in the face – he definitely deserves it. I’m cool with Duran, but at the end of the day it’s a business, so if I have to punch him in the face and kick his (expletive) to get the belt, that’s what I’m going to do.
“It doesn’t matter who has the belt; they just need to know that I’m coming for it.”
