Matthew “The Hawk” Socholotiuk comes to the Squared Circle from the gridiron.
The former University of Waterloo standout running back is now 2-0 in his BKFC career after his first-round KO over Nash Diederichs at the recent BKFC Prospect Series event at the sold-out River Cree Resort & Casino in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, LIVE on The BKFC App.
“I always had dreams of playing in the Canadian Football League, or the National Football League, but sadly I wasn’t on that level, and the sport passed me by,” the Montreal-based fighter says in retrospect.
“But I think football definitely helped me with my fighting.”
Socholotiuk would like to be 3-0 with a third knockout victory by Christmas.
“I’m taking it one day at a time, but someday I’d love to be World Champion in BKFC’s welterweight division. I want to fight the best guys and test myself. I don’t want to pad my record against easy competition; I want to know that I went out there and did my best against the best in the world,” he says.
“When you hang up your gloves – even though we’re not wearing gloves with BKFC, obviously (laughs) – you want to know that you gave it your all and did everything you could possibly do to reach the top of the rankings.”
