Fight fans might be surprised that Drew Stuve wasn’t an enforcer during his hockey career.

“I was a goalie, actually,” he says with a laugh. “I didn’t fight at all in hockey.”

The lifelong goaltender transitioned to combat sports after his hockey career ended. He had been fighting his whole life off the rink and finally decided to train.

Stuve is quickly establishing himself as one of the top Canadian fighters in the world of bare knuckle. He’s coming off a 71-second victory in his BKFC debut at the organization’s inaugural Canadian event in March. He returns to the Squared Circle on Saturday to take on Sonny Smith in the Main Event of BKFC’s Prospect Series event at River Cree Resort & Casino in Edmonton, Canada.

“I can’t wait,” Stuve says ahead of his second bare knuckle fight. “I’m so excited to put on another great show for the fans.”

The Edmonton-based welterweight believes bare knuckle fighting will be a smash hit across Canada, and he's all too happy to help the organization establish itself across “The Great White North.”

“I’ve been to tons of events at River Cree – boxing, MMA, you name it – and I’ve never heard it as loud and as crazy as it was for the BKFC fights. People love it, so I think it will be huge here,” he says.

“I want to be the face of BKFC in Canada. I want to be a BKFC World Champion, of course, but I want to establish myself across the country as we work our way to the belt.”
