Jimmie Rivera had one goal when he signed on the dotted line with BKFC.
“I just wanted to fight for the belt and bring it home,” the Elmwood Park, NJ fighter says.
The former UFC headliner is now on the precipice of reaching his goal.
Rivera challenges the unbeaten Kai Stewart for Stewart’s BKFC World Featherweight Title in the Main Event of BKFC on DAZN: Montana, Nov. 9 at First Interstate Arena in Billings, MT, LIVE worldwide on DAZN.
“It feels great to be here,” he says, “but the job isn’t done.”
Rivera won a number of prestigious regional championships in his MMA career but fell short of earning a UFC title. He’s not about to let that happen with BKFC.
That being said, taking the belt from the brash and outspoken “King Kai,” is now just Step 1 in Rivera’s plan with BKFC.
“After winning the belt, I want to bring it to Nick Lembo and the people in charge of the athletic commission in New Jersey. I want to do everything I can so that we can start fighting bare knuckle in New Jersey, which is my backyard,” Rivera says.
“It would be really nice to bring the most exciting combat sport home to my fans, family and friends.”
Rivera is a married father of two, a police officer and gym owner. He already contributes much to The Garden State – now he wants to deliver the world’s fastest growing combat sports promotion.
“I really want to bring it home,” he says with a smile.
“I grew up in Jersey and had most of my non-UFC MMA fights in the state. Introducing BKFC to Jersey is something that really excites me, because I know that this could become a huge market for BKFC and the sport of bare knuckle fighting.”
