Christine ‘Misfit’ Ferea was born in San Jose, California where she grew up tough, being involved in street fights, and you could say that’s where her career first began. She went to a gym looking to improve her health and realized quickly that she wasn’t as technically skilled as she may have thought by sparring some athletes in the gym. She began training Muay Thai and then eventually BJJ, boxing and kickboxing to sharpen her skills.
In her Muay Thai days, Ferea racked up a 13-0 amateur record and a 1-0 professional one. Before being signed as a professional by Invicta FC, she ran up a 3-1 amateur record and at this point, she knew that her ceiling in combat sports was very high. After a TKO win against Rachel Ostovich, Ferea went on to lose her following two MMA fights via decision, and that’s when she made the jump to bare-knuckle.
Christine Ferea debuted at BKFC 3, where she defeated Jennifer Tate via round one knockout. Her second fight was for the vacant women’s featherweight title which she won, but then lost it her following bout. *Ferea’s only loss to date in the sport came at the hands of Helen Peralta, and she has looked almost unbeatable since. *Ferea is the current women’s flyweight champion, a title she has defended three times to date. She earned that title against another absolute standout in BKFC, Britain Hart, *the current strawweight champion.
Ferea is a consummate professional who takes her career incredibly seriously. Her skill set allows for her to be more accurate and quicker than her opponents to date and her physical abilities make her a very imposing figure in the Squared Circle. Expect a bullying style with little respect for what she is being hit with and a smothering pace for up to 10 minutes. You are witnessing a bare-knuckle legacy being built fight by fight when Ferea toes the line.
