Elvin “El Bandido” Brito wants his belt back.

Brito became the inaugural BKFC World Welterweight Champion in 2022. The belt has since changed waists a few times and is currently held by the unbeaten Austin “No Doubt” Trout.

Standing between Brito and his shot at Trout is Jake Lindsey. Brito and Lindsey will meet in the Main Event of BKFC Fight Night Kansas City at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS on Aug. 16, LIVE worldwide on The BKFC App.

Brito is the No. 4 contender in the stacked weight class after scoring a 40-second stoppage victory over the previously unbeaten Ja’Far Fortt in April. Lindsey is the No. 2 contender in the division after beginning his BKFC career with four wins in his first five trips to the Squared Circle.

Brito is confident he’ll stay in the win column after his clash with Lindsey, but he’s quick to praise his next opponent.

“Jake is a big, athletic, strong dude who’s a hard-hitting and dangerous fighter. I’d say Ja’Far is more technical than him, but Jake has been fighting for a long time so he’s very weathered because he’s been tested,” Brito says.

“He’s got a lot of heart; he shows that in every fight.”

Brito wants to test Lindsey’s heart in Kansas City. He’s not necessarily expecting a lightning-fast finish like he had against Fortt, but he’s ready to run through any obstacle standing between him and a second title stint with the world’s fastest growing combat sports promotion.

“After I beat Jake, it’s going to be obvious that the best matchup for the title is me versus Trout,” he says.

“Austin Trout is a very, very skilled boxer. He’s very savvy and has a lot of belief in himself. He’s done well in the bare knuckle bouts that he’s had, but he hasn’t really been tested in bare knuckle yet. If we fight, he’s going to see within seconds that it’s not going to be what he expected.

“But one fight at a time; Jake Lindsey is who’s in front of me right now.”
