Zach “Shark Attack” Calmus loves his hometown and his hometown loves him.
The proud, lifelong Gloucester, MA resident was recently honored by his town’s mayor, Gregory P. Verga, with a special proclamation to celebrate his success in the BKFC Squared Circle.
“Being honored by the mayor was definitely one of the highlights of my life. I remember running up and down the boulevard, praying for the day that I get this type of recognition,” Calmus says.
“It feels amazing. I couldn’t be more proud.”
There’s much to celebrate in Calmus’ combat career. The heavy-handed New England heavyweight has been victorious in his past three trips to the Squared Circle, with all of his victories coming by stoppage.
Calmus goes for his fourth straight win against Ryan Shough at BKFC 63 on Aug. 3 in Sturgis, SD, LIVE worldwide on The BKFC App.
Calmus prides himself on being a company man, so he’s always been content to sign on the dotted line for any fights that BKFC offers. But if he’s able to notch a fourth straight finish in Sturgis, he’s only got one fight in mind.
“After I knock this guy out, I’m shooting for a title shot."
